April 1, 2019—An auto repair shop in Pennsylvania has pledged to rebuild following a shop fire. According to KDKA-TV, owner of Sam's Auto Repair in Pulaski Township, Pa., Sam Botinovch tried to put the shop fire out with a fire extinguisher when he realized he needed help.
“I called 9-1-1,” Botinovch said to KDKA-TV. “I crawled out the window, the 9-1-1 guy says ‘what’s the nature of the call’ and I said you need to send firetrucks, you’re going to have a three or four-alarm fire.”
The fire destroyed everything inside the building, including three cars, the station reports.
“The vehicles inside, obviously the entire structure and any equipment he had [was destroyed],” Pulaski Township Fire Department chief Alan Hickey said to KDKA-TV. “He’s been a staple up here for thirty-plus years.”
The fire additionally caused damage to the side of the Botinovch house, the station reports.
“The people around here were awesome,” Botinovch said to KDKA-TV. “All my neighbors were awesome. I’ve been getting calls from businesses [offering] floor space, a truck to use.”
Botinovch told KDKA-TV that he plans to rebuild.
“The good lord treated me good enough to get out and rebuild again,” Botinovch said to KDKA-TV. “That’s what you got to do to believe in something.”
