Colorado High School Students Assist 'Stranded Motorist Fund' With Vehicle Repair
Colorado Springs repair shop Adam and Son has partnered with local high school students to provide vehicle repairs for someone in need, reports KOAA News 5.
The project is part of the Stranded Motorist Fund: a program started by Adam and Son’s owner, Dan Adam, back in 2020. Since launching, it’s provided vehicle repairs to hundreds of drivers.
“Oftentimes it's single mothers, disabled veterans, you name it, people that are just struggling and in this economy, that's a very common issue,” said Adam.
Nicole is a Colorado Springs resident currently recovering from drug addiction. When she started experiencing issues with her car’s tires and brakes, she was met with repair estimates of $3,000 or more that she couldn’t afford.
With the help of the Stranded Motorist Fund, Nicole is now able to afford to repair her only mode of transportation. This job is different from, most, however, with students from Doherty High School assisting the technicians at Adam and Son.
“It makes me feel good just helping out other people, it's something I've always wanted to do since I was little,” said high school junior Seamus Roebke.
