Ford Recalls 100K Escapes for Transmission, Rollaway Issues

April 28, 2022

The recall affects some 2015 Ford Escape models that are experiencing rollaway problems, even when the vehicle is in park.

April 28, 2022—Ford has announced a recall pertaining to 2015 Escapes and a potential rollaway issue.

According to Torque News, the issue stems from a problem with transmission cable bushing. Essentially, some of these vehicles may have missing or damaged cable bushing that prevents the vehicle from shifting into the correct gear.

This could result in the vehicle rolling in a different direction than intended. This could even happen after the driver puts the vehicle in park.

Individuals who own affected 2015 Escapes will be contacted around May 9. In order to fix the issue, a protective cap will be placed over the shift cable bushing.

This recall affects around 100,000 vehicles.
