BMW has issued a recall over malfunctioning door locks, reports USA Today.
Covered by the recall are an estimated 40,736 units of 2022-2024 model year X3 sDrive30i and X3 xDrive30i vehicles, according to NHTSA.
The recall notice shared that door locking modules on the second-row seat side may fail to function, and could cause doors to become unlocked.
Internal vehicle testing on Jan. 30 revealed the issue to BMW, prompting an engineering review and voluntary recall. BMW is not aware of any warranty claims, customer complaints, or field reports related to the issue.
NHTSA has shared that dealers will replace the second-row seat side door locking modules to remedy the problem, with notices being mailed to owners April 14.
