Jaguar to Buy Back Electric SUVs Following Failed Recall Solutions
Following failed recall solutions, Jaguar Land Rover will be buying back 2,794 of its 2019 Jaguar I-Pace electric SUVs, according to Green Car Reports.
The automaker’s first EV model has been rife with recalls, the first one being issued last year over the battery potentially overheating, followed by a smaller recall earlier this year.
Jaguar initially had diagnostic software installed as a solution for the problem. When that didn’t resolve the issue, the batteries were then entirely replaced—but the issue persisted.
Now, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has said Jaguar will be buying back all affected vehicles. Until that can be done, precautions outlined in the recall from this past August still apply, including parking and charging outside and away from structures, and installing a software update that will limit the vehicle’s charge to 80%.
