A high school and a community college in Massachusetts have partnered together to create a summer camp that teaches kids automotive skills, WCVB reports.
The camp, launched by Framingham High School and MassBay Community College, will run for three weeks and will cover topics such as changing oil and tires, working on engines, and more.
There will be 30 students attending the camp this year, who will receive lessons in both classrooms and the community college’s automotive lab.
Automotive technicians who graduate with an associate degree from MassBay have the potential to earn $45,000 annually in their first position after school and more than $100,000 after three years of working in the field, which has piqued the interest of many young people.
According to officials with MassBay, the summer camp is expected to take place again in the future, joined by other high schools.
