Jan. 28, 2022—Nissan is recalling more than 793,000 SUVS in the U.S. and Canada due to an issue with wiring that could start a fire.

According to a report from The Detroit News, the recall covers 2014-2016 model year Rogue SUVs. The NHTSA in documents say water and salt can get into the driver's foot well and onto a wiring connector, which could cause corrosion and start a fire.

The documents say Nissan has received seven reports of "thermal incidents," though the automaker says it is not aware of any injuries caused by the defect.

Drivers with affected vehicles could smell a burning odor or see smoke, Nissan said. If that happens, the automaker said drivers should park somewhere outside and call Nissan Roadside Assistance to get their Rogue towed to a dealer.

According to the report, Nissan is "working on a fix and expects to have one in the spring." Owners will receive a letter notifying them of the recall starting in March, with another letter letting them know when the fix is ready at a later date.
