Aug. 8, 2016—U.S. authorities found three additional unapproved software programs in 3.0-liter diesel V6s made by Audi, which are found in VW Touareg, Audi Q7 and Porsche Cayenne models, according to a report from Automotive News.
The software programs were found to shut down emissions control units in the diesel engines after approximately 22 minutes of operation, which covers most official methods for emissions testing usually lasting about 20 minutes.
The 3.0-liter engines produce fewer emissions that the 2.0-liter engines, which are included in a separate settlement. A settlement for the 3.0-liter engines has not yet been reached.
VW admitted last year that these engines also had emissions-cheating software. About 85,000 3.0-liter diesel vehicles are affected by this software.
