Detroit Auto Show Attendance hits 12-year High

Jan. 27, 2015

Jan. 27, 2015—Attendance for the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit topped out at 808,775 show-goers, a 12-year high, according to a report from The Detroit News.

Last year’s attendance of 803,451 was the highest number seen since the 2003 show, and organizers point to better weather, an improved economy and lower gas prices to account for the increased attendance.

The average age of a vehicle on the road is around 11 years according the report, which could also account why more potential buyers would attend the show.

In addition to the increased attendance, the show also gained more media attention as 5,025 journalists from 60 countries and 40 U.S. states attended the show. Fifty-five new vehicles and seven concept cars were unveiled at the show, which began Jan. 12 and wrapped up on Sunday at Detroit’s Cobo Center.
