Survey: Auto Repair Technicians Desire for More High-Tech Tools at Work
A survey of automotive technicians conducted by Anyline at SEMA showed today’s technician’s relationship with modern repair technology, as shared in a press release.
With nearly half of respondents citing a technician shortage as the biggest challenge they will face in the next decade, many have begun implementing digital vehicle diagnostic platforms to help improve operational efficiency.
87% of those surveyed by Anyline said that digital data and analytics contribute to higher customer satisfaction, as well as them having more trust in a shop.
Most technicians are willing to use such technology in their work, with 68% feeling comfortable with advanced digital diagnostic tools. 70% of technicians surveyed reported already using some level of technology for over half of their daily tasks.
Despite this, 57% of technicians are still manually entering tire information into point-of-sale systems and customer relationship management platforms. Nearly three-fourths—72%—said that manual data entry is time-consuming for automotive service technicians.
