Tesla Potentially Opening Service Center in Kentucky After Gaining State Sales License

Aug. 13, 2024
While Tesla owners previously would need to drive out of Kentucky to receive repairs from the automaker, the company is now able to open its stores in the state.

Tesla has been granted an official sales license in the state of Kentucky, enabling the automaker to operate Tesla dealerships and service centers in the state, according to Teslarati.

As per Tesla Owners of Kentucky, an official sales license has been granted to Tesla, which had been previously denied by the state due to requirements surrounding direct-to-consumer vehicle sales. As of Friday, Tesla is now listed in the state’s list of automotive dealers.

Though Tesla has had the ability to sell its vehicles outright in Kentucky, prior to gaining the license, the company was unable to lease or repair vehicles. Tesla owners would need to drive out of state to find a Tesla center to work on their car.

According to the list, Tesla has an address at a service center in Louisville, Kentucky, which currently has job listings for vehicle readiness specialists and service technicians.
