July 5, 2022—A nonprofit has opened its newest shop in West Fargo, North Dakota.
According to Inforum, Fix It Forward Auto Care is made possible by Fix It Forward Ministry. The nonprofit's goal is to repair vehicles to donate to those in need.
Fix It Forward has other shops in Moorhead, Minnesota and south Fargo, North Dakota. The new West Fargo location has eight service bays, and will help support the efforts of Fix It Forward Ministry.
Fix It Forward Ministry is funded through donations, volunteer labor, and discounted parts. The nonprofit provides no-cost auto repairs and repairs donated vehicles for community members in the Fargo-Moorhead area. Fix It Forward Ministry works with over 40 local social service agencies, and those in need of the repairs can contact a case manager from one of those groups to get approved.
The nonprofit has donated around 365 vehicles and has repaired over 700.
"They have clients that need cars repaired but can't afford it," Matthew Carlson, co-owner of Fix It Forward, said in the article. "Without transportation, you can't get a job. Without a job, you can't be self-sufficient."
Matthew Carlson co-owns Fix It Forward with his wife Kristi. Carlson and Jeremy Jensen founded Fix It Forward Ministry in 2015. The first Fix It Forward Auto Care location opened three years afterward in Moorhead, Minnesota.
