April 22, 2019—Multiple vehicles caught fire at an auto repair shop in Miami. WSVN reports that a fire crew was dispatched to the scene at Northwest 21st Street and 27th Avenue, shortly after 3 a.m.
“Right now, we’re not sure exactly how it started, but we do know that there were multiple vehicles that caught fire,” Miami Fire rescue capt. Ignatius Carroll said to WSVN. “When you have vehicles that are in for repair or even used for parts, then you have a lot of fluids; you have oil, you have a lot of flammable liquid inside that tend to burn. That obviously helped fuel the fire.”
According to the station, it took 80 firefighters to put out the scene which subsided at 6 a.m.
“Two boys had ended up walking here through the driveway,” witness, Sylvester Warner said to WSVN. “I started hearing popping noises. They had started the fire, and they did it from the top. If you go to the top and you look down, it’s like a patio, a yard.”
Three dogs—believed to be security measures for the shop—were rescued and unharmed, WSVN reports.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, WSVN reports.
