Jan. 21, 2013—The 2014 Honda Accord Plug-In Hybrid, with an EPA rating of 115 MPGe in all electric mode, making it the most fuel-efficient sedan in the U.S., is now available at select Honda dealerships in California and New York., according to a Honda press release_notes.
The 2014 Accord Plug-In is powered by Honda Earth Dreams, the company’s new two-motor hybrid technology, which uses a 124-killowatt electric motor, along with a fuel-efficient 2.0-liter I-VTEC, Atkinson cycle 4-cylinder engine.
The new two-motor system allows the vehicle to seamlessly transition between all-electric, gasoline-electric and direct engine power.
The 115 MPGe Honda Accord Plug-In currently tops the Ford Fusion Energi Plug-In, Chevy Volt and Prius Plug-In for fuel-efficiency standards.
