New Recommendations Set for Motor Oil Information on Invoices

July 16, 2013

July 16, 2013—The U.S. Commerce Department’s National Institute of Standards and Technology made uniform recommendations for new standards for how motor oil information appears on invoices.

The new standards mandate that SAE oil ratings, brand and weight must be placed on a customer’s invoice. The standards are outlined in the Uniform Regulation for the Method of Sale of Commodities.

These requirements became effective July 1 for the 20 states that automatically adopted the standards. Other states will do so by Administrative Regulation.

For more information on the recommendations, or whether your state is affected, visit the ASA legislative website.
