Jan. 17, 2014—Bosch recently unveiled its Telediagnostics platform, which aims to support vehicle diagnostics from anywhere.
Utilizing distributed diagnostic software architecture, existing in-vehicle technology or aftermarket equipment, Bosch enables technicians to remotely collect vehicle trouble codes.
“As use of software in vehicles grows with vehicle complexity, there will be increased need for software updates to service vehicles in the field, said Mohan Sethi, director of Bosch Global OES product management. “Telediagnostics is the next logical step to offer vehicle owners increased convenience and reduced cost to vehicle owners. Vehicle owners can be quickly notified whether or not a dash light is a serious problem while dealers can better anticipate service times, dates and prioritize their work orders.”
In addition to remote diagnostics sessions, Bosch Telediagnostics collects information to generate vehicle health reports and alerts related to various vehicle parameters including Tire Pressure Monitoring Systems (TPMS), oil life, battery life, and fluid levels. The system can also facilitate information exchange with third-party services such as roadside assistance. Dealers are able to maintain a record of vehicle scans.
