Auto-Repair Chain Agrees to $1.4 Million Settlement

Oct. 10, 2016—Certified Tire and Services Center, which has 41 locations in California, has agreed to pay $1.4 million to settle a lawsuit accusing it of selling unnecessary and faulty parts and unnecessary services, according to a report by The Orange County Register.
The case was filed by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office against Certified Tire and its owner, Jeffrey Darrow, alleging unfair business practices and false and misleading advertising.
The District Attorney’s Office launched a joint investigation with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair after receiving complaints of unfair business practices.
Certified Tire has 41 locations in California, primarily in Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.
Certified Tire has admitted no fault or liability, according to the report.
