Oct. 12, 2015—The Hybrid Shop (THS) has added another exclusive line of HEV Battery Conditioning Equipment to the HEV battery conditioning equipment offered to its franchisees.
The Hybrid Shop’s Battery Conditioning is a green service that restores up to 95 percent of the battery pack’s original power and energy, while driving significant increased fuel economy over time. The Hybrid Shop’s partnership with NuVant, as an exclusive distributor of NuVant’s HEV Battery Conditioning equipment, is a part of the Hybrid Shop’s ongoing commitment to being at the forefront of the aftermarket service industry for hybrid and electric vehicles.
As a part of the fractional franchise program, repair shops and tire dealers are able to offer a comprehensive menu of services that ensures their hybrid customers reap the rewards from receiving the highest quality repair and maintenance, including:
- Cost-savings: Battery Conditioning is approximately 1/3 the cost of battery replacement. Without the proprietary battery conditioning technology offered by THS to its franchisees, hybrid owners’ turn to battery replacement which could cost as much as $4,000- $9,000 at a car dealership.
- Enhanced fuel economy: An underperforming hybrid battery results in decreased fuel economy and torque. HEV battery conditioning results in 10-35% fuel economy improvement.
- Enhanced vehicle performance: Vehicles undergoing hybrid specific maintenance, including testing of electric transmissions, DC-DC converters, power inverter and control systems, will perform more efficiently, cost less to operate, and experience improved drivability.
“It is a pleasure to finally bring electrochemistry and electronics, developed by NuVant and Northeastern University co-ops, to the streets,” according to Dr. Eugene Smotkin, NuVant’s co-founder and chairman of the board. “The team at NuVant is dedicated to the research and development of green technology that will improve and ultimately contribute to the sustainability of our planet. Our state-of-the-art Battery Conditioning equipment offers a rapid discharge cycle, continuous heat monitoring system, and advanced battery pack balancing technology, allowing technicians to spend less time monitoring the conditioning process and more time diagnosing and repairing vehicles in the shop. Partnering with The Hybrid Shop, a growing global network of auto repair facilities focused on the same eco-friendly principles as NuVant, is an exciting opportunity and something that we are very proud to be part of.”
“We are very excited about the addition of the Nuvant technology. We will now be able to offer dealers a choice of equipment”, said Dave Crawford, CEO of The Hybrid Shop. “It’s not often that you can offer the marketplace state-of-the-art equipment from two different manufacturers, and having availability in the automotive repair aftermarket for both truly sets THS apart. It’s a unique competitive advantage for both THS and our independent franchisees.”
