Oct. 21, 2022—Car parts shortages are currently impacting much of the country.
According to New Jersey 101.5, New Jersey is both paying attention and reacting to the shortages. Joe Erickson is with AAA as a Club Alliance Approved Auto Repair territory manager. He told New Jersey 101.5 that he knew of a mechanic who had a car in their shop for six months while waiting on a steering rack.
Charles Bryant is the executive director of the Alliance of Automotive Service Providers of New Jersey. He told New Jersey 101.5 that he has seen many shop employees become especially resourceful during these shortages, and that he often witnesses them trying to get ahold of parts online. But as much work as they put in, the problems aren't going away.
Erickson also mentioned more everyday drivers are conducting their own repairs. Additionally, he said that the cost of salvageable auto parts has gone up due to the overall demand.
