October 5, 2018—The Independent Garage Owners of North Carolina (IGONC) created a disaster fund to help North Carolina and South Carolina repair shops that were in Hurricane Florence's path. In addition, RepairPal and AutoShop Solutions have partnered with IGONC and pledged matching funds up to $5,000 each.
Many of the shops are underinsured, the IGONC says, and those insured might face a hard financial hit.
If you own a shop that was impacted or know of one, please contact IGONC — even if you are not a member of the organization. Funding applicants are to submit his or her name, the shop name, address, and a brief description of the loss, accompanied by photos.
IGONC will begin issuing checks in late October until funds are depleted. Non-member shops will receive $250 which after matching funds will be $750. IGONC member locations will receive $500 which after matching will be $1500. IGONC member locations will also have 2019 dues waved.
Collison shops in the effected areas can also contact the Collision Industry Foundation.
Those who qualify can receive up to $500 individually or up to a few thousand dollars for a shop.
