April 9, 2019—Electrek reports that Tesla fired most employees from its service center in Calgary for being "inappropriate." An email was sent from a former employee of Tesla's only service location in Calgary informing the Tesla Owners Club that the entire service staff's jobs had been terminated.
According to Electrek, the email to the owner read as follows:
“I have volunteered for the unfortunate task to let you all know that as of today myself and all members of the Tesla Calgary Service department have been terminated effective immediately. We had no warning of this, and felt that we owed it to you all to let you know.”
The publication reports that the email sent owners into a panic as the closest nearby Tesla service center is located hundreds of miles away in Vancouver. Tesla did not announce the closing of the service center, Electrek reports.
A spokesperson from Tesla told Electrek that the company fired "several members of the Calgary service team" following an investigation into their behaviors on the job.
“Several members of the Calgary service team were terminated following an investigation into an employee complaint which confirmed repeated inappropriate exchanges between colleagues," A spokesperson from Tesla told Electrek. "This is in violation of our workplace policies and behavior we will not tolerate at Tesla.”
Electrek reports that Tesla did not confirm the nature of the "inappropriate exchanges," although a source familiar said inappropriate texts and pictures were shared among employees.
Tesla confirmed to Electrek that the Calgary service center will stay open and the company will the now-open positions.
