Toyota Issues Safety Recall on Hybrid Vehicles

Sept. 4, 2013

Sept. 4, 2013—Toyota Motor Sales has issued a voluntary safety recall of its Highlander Hybrid (model years 2006-2010) and Lexus RX400h (2006-2008) models.

The 133,000 recalled vehicles’ inverter systems have a risk of heat damage that would cause the vehicles’ warning lights to illuminate and force the vehicle to enter “limp home mode,” according to a release_notes from the Automotive Career Development Center. In limited instances, the hybrid system will shut down entirely, resulting in the vehicle stopping while driving.

Owners of vehicles subject to these recalls will receive a notification by first class mail.
