Ficosa Opens $50M Auto Parts Plant in Tennessee

Oct. 31, 2016

Oct. 31, 2016—Spanish auto parts supplier Ficosa has unveiled a new, $50 million manufacturing plant in Cookeville, Tenn. The plant is 270,000 square feet, making it Ficosa’s largest North American facility.

The new facility replaces a Ficosa assembly plant roughly 40 miles away, in Crossville.

Ficosa hosted a grand opening at the plant last Friday, according to tennessean.com. The company said it hopes to employ 900 workers at the new facility. Fred Zicard, vice president of Ficosa North America, said opening a facility in Cookeville allowed the company to keep workers from Crossville while also tapping into local talent.

Ficosa, which concentrates on research, development and production of automotive systems and parts, is based in Barcelona, Spain, and has more than 9,700 employees in 18 countries. The company started operating in the U.S. in 1995 and has additional U.S. operations in Michigan and Kentucky.
