Christian Brothers Automotive Store Owner Donates Vehicle to Pennsylvania Mother
A Christian Brothers Automotive store in Pennsylvania recently donated a vehicle to a local in need of reliable transportation, according to North Penn Now.
The donation was made to Alice Massanga, a certified nurse’s assistant who emigrated from Angola and now lives in Harleysville, Pennsylvania, with her child. Her previous vehicle, a Nissan Murano, had experienced frequent breakdowns and required multiple repairs.
“I couldn’t go to work. I couldn’t do anything,” said Massanga. “And every time I would take my car somewhere, they were just trying to rip me off.”
It was then that a local social service agency, Keystone Opportunity Center in Souderton, referred Massanga to the Christian Brothers Automotive in Montgomery Township. When the shop found that Massanga would need a new vehicle, owner Chip Eissler and his wife Christie opted to donate Christie’s old vehicle to Massanga.
On April 17, the 2015 Toyota Sienna was presented to Massanga by Eissler at the shop. The donation also contributed to the company’s National Day of Service, which aims to help low-income individuals with automotive maintenance.
“Being an immigrant in this country, there are people that have really bad experiences here, but there are some people that have good experiences here,” said Massanga. “And since I got in Pennsylvania, I cannot say that I wasn’t helped. I had a lot of help, I had people surrounding me. There are still good people in the world. I still believe in humanity.”
