Pennsylvania Nonprofit Training Incarcerated Women for Career Path into Automotive Repair Upon Release
A nonprofit based in Lansdale, Pennsylvania, is using virtual reality technology to train incarcerated women for high-demand automotive repair jobs, reports North Penn Now.
The initiative was started by 365 Foundation Inc., a nonprofit dedicated to empowering women in the community.
The Automotive Technical Training Program, created in partnership with Vehicles for Change and HTX Labs, will provide women coming home from prisons, jails, and reentry facilities with virtual reality training in auto repair and maintenance.
Through learning in a virtual, interactive garage, women will earn a minimum of two ASE certifications. National employment partners such as NAPA Auto Care Centers ensure trainees will have job opportunities upon completion of the program.
“We believe every woman deserves a chance to thrive and succeed after facing adversity,” said 365 Foundation Executive Director Natalie Venezia. “Through this partnership with Vehicles for Change and HTX Labs, we can provide formerly incarcerated women with the resources they need to build successful careers in the automotive industry.”
