Christian Brothers Automotive Urges Texas Representatives to Support REPAIR Act
Christian Brothers Automotive has sent a letter to Texas’ state representatives urging for their support of the REPAIR Act.
The letter called on Representatives Michael Burgess, Randy Weber, Marc Veasey, Dan Crenshaw, August Pfluger, and Lizzie Fletcher to consider the REPAIR Act, also known as HR 906, before the full Energy & Commerce Committee this month and to vote yes.
The company asserted the role it plays in Texas’ automotive repair industry, citing its 74 stores and just over 1,500 employees in the state alone.
Furthermore, the letter argued that over 70% of repairs are performed at independent facilities, and that the REPAIR Act would prevent being excluded from the data they need to perform increasingly digitized jobs.
“The REPAIR Act ensures that consumers can continue to purchase aftermarket parts,” the letter reads, “as it prohibits vehicle manufacturers from employing any technological or legal barriers that limit competition and requires them to provide critical repair information and tools to independent manufacturers and repair shops at a fair and reasonable cost. For vehicle owners, this means more options and lower prices.”
