The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) will be holding a webinar on recent innovations made with ignition systems, according to a press release.
Led by Philip Austin with Niterra (formerly NGK), the webinar will take place on Nov. 21 and is titled “Modern Ignition Technology and Tips.”
Part of a service technician’s job is to keep up with the latest automotive technologies and diagnostic strategies, especially ignition systems. Recent changes made to this component can affect cylinder temperature and pressure, requiring the ignition system to adapt to maintain performance.
Topics covered in the session will include an update on spark plug technology and "high ignitability” spark plug designs; advances made in ignition coils and ignition system control; troubleshooting two, three and four-pin ignition coils on plug type coils; and developing diagnostic strategies based on the root cause instead of the effect (MIL).
Those present for the live session will receive a certificate of attendance upon completion. Those who aren’t sure they can attend are still encouraged to register to receive a recorded copy later, if available.
