Feb. 14, 2023–Students in the media and communications program at the Careerline Tech Center helped create a video about the automotive industry in West Michigan, the Holland Sentinel reports.
32 students from CTC received help from “the Mosaic Film Experience, Gentex and the Kent Career Tech Center” on the project. Joey Heyboer, Jenison High School senior, was the lead editor, and Yejin Jeon, a student from Kent Career Tech Center, created the graphic overlays used for the video.
Students visited five different automotive companies in West Michigan: “Gentex, JMAX Transportation, Royal Technologies, Techno-Coat and Shoreline Container.”
“The process of going out to the different businesses and seeing how they operate was eye-opening for our students,” said Bill Wolbrink, media and communications instructor for the Careerline Tech Center. “Their visits also dispelled some of the student’s perceptions about the manufacturing industry.”
The five-minute-long video debuted at “Gentex’s booth at the Michigan International Auto Show,” which took place February 2-6 in Grand Rapids, and is currently on YouTube for anyone to view.
The footage obtained by the students will now be used toward creating recruiting videos for each of the companies interviewed for the project.
