Aug. 17, 2020—Michigan Economic Development Corporation has partnered with Cavnue, a private corporation dedicated to building "the world's most advanced roads," to create the first self-driving roadway.

The 40-mile corridor will connect Detroit and Ann Arbor, Michigan and will most likely be implemented as a separate lane built on I-94, reports The Drive. Cavnue will collaborate with companies like Ford, BMW, Waymo, Argo AI, and General Motors.

Phase one of the project is figuring out just how to start the roadway and is projected to last 24 months.
