Dec. 6, 2021—Syracuse Police officers are investigating and working to identify suspects who are responsible for breaking into an increasing number of auto shops across the New York city, CNY Central reported.

The thieves have stolen cars, hundreds of dollars in tools, and dozens of car keys and other parts from several repair shops in the last week. The thieves are likely to face felony charges, the report said.

Joe Picciott, owner of J&T Auto, recounted his experience to the outlet.

“They came and cleared us all out,” Picciott said. The group of thieves took off with two vans and almost every tool in the shop.

“They went through all our desks,” said Picciott. “They went through everything we have in the building, knocked over our computers, broke our printers. Just did malicious things and pretty much took everything we had to operate our business with.”
