June 15, 2022—A United Way in Maine is helping reach locals in need of car repairs and vehicle assistance.
According to Central Maine, the Don't Despair Car Repair Program will help to conduct vehicle repairs in the Tri-Valley Area, which includes the Greater Franklin County as well as Livermore and Livermore Falls.
An approved applicant for this program can be provided up to $1,000 for a repair. Each applicant can only be funded once in an effort to reach as many people in need as possible.
Applicants are reviewed and approved by a committee of five community members within a 48-hour turnaround period.
The participation of multiple garages makes this program possible. Garages include:

- Romano’s Garage in Livermore Falls
- Rick’s Auto in Wilton
- Boyce’s Auto in Kingfield
- Poulin’s Garage in Kingfield
- Merrill’s Garage in Jay
- Hilltop Collision in Jay
- St. Pierre’s Garage in East Jay
- Randy Keach Auto in New Sharon
- RP Auto Repair in Rangeley
- KOOBS Garage in Oquossoc
- Maine Wrench in Strong
