Ford Recalls 11K Maverick Trucks

Oct. 20, 2022

Impacted Maverick drivers can expect to be notified between the dates of November 14 and November 18.

Oct. 20, 2022—Ford has announced a recall for certain 2022 model-year Maverick compact pickup trucks.

According to The BRAKE Report, brake lights have the potential to illuminate in these vehicles without application of the brakes. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there are 11,098 vehicles impacted by this recall, and the affected vehicles have suspect antilock-braking-system modules.

A report from the NHTSA details the problem as a lack of definition in the Active Cruise Control and the Antilock Braking System interface specification. This causes the ABS to send an incorrect signal to the Integrated Trailer Relay Module. The ITRM reads this as the brakes being active, leading to an illumination of the brake lights.

Maverick owners will be notified between the dates of November 14 and November 18.
