September 20, 2018—A Plus Transmission & Auto Repair celebrates its 30th anniversary in Livingston County, Mich.
The shop won the Livingston County People's Choice Award for the past five years. The business is family-run and the technicians are ASE certified.
Thomas Ventura, grandfather of the current owner, Rob Ventura, started working at the Detroit Ford Motor Company Transmission Plant in 1954. Thomas's son, John, later went into the transmission and auto repair business. The love of cars and helping people has been passed down through generations following that.
As the current owner, Rob Ventura, created the "Golden Shoe Policy". In this policy, little pairs of gold shoes sit on the counter to remind the staff to put themselves in the customer's shoes.
The Ventura family moved from the Detroit area and settled in Brighton in 1968. Rob married Denise and in 1988 they moved the business to Brighton to cut down on the long commute.
"We live here and we work here," says Denise Ventura, co-owner at A Plus. "We have to treat people right because we live five minutes from here! We're part of the community."
Rob and Denise have worked together for 30 years, sharing the same office. They designed and built their current building. Long-time employees have been with the company, with one employee working at A Plus for 28 years.
