September 20, 2018—Wrench, the rapidly growing mobile car repair company, announced it is acquiring a major competitor in Chicago-based Otobots.

Ratchet+Wrench spoke with Wrench's CEO Ed Petersen earlier this year about his company's growth plan earlier this year. And last year, Ratchet+Wrench spoke with Wrench about how shops can partner with mobile service units.

“This acquisition accelerates our national expansion to deliver our goal of removing the hassle of owning and maintaining your car," said Petersen. "We feel validated that our customer centric approach has been a winning formula. We‘ve gained a ton of confidence in our business model and are excited to continued rolling out nationally.”

Wrench expects to add over 100,000 cars to the Wrench platform in 2018.

Through the acquisition, Otobot customers will get access to the Wrench platform that streamlines technicians and other services to maintain cars. All customers can schedule repairs through a mobile app, online or over the phone, all supported by Wrench’s team. Wrench will integrate its platform into the Otobots site over the next 90 days.
