Aug. 23, 2019

According to the report, the connection between the fuel filler pipe and the fuel tank may have been improperly welded, allowing a fuel leak that, in the presence of an ignition source, can increase the risk of a fire.

August 23, 2019—Approximately 130 model-year 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLE350 and GLE450 SUVs have been recalled for problems with the fuel tank, reports Cars.com.

According to the report, the connection between the fuel filler pipe and the fuel tank may have been improperly welded, allowing a fuel leak that, in the presence of an ignition source, can increase the risk of a fire.

To fix this, owners will need to go into their dealer to replace their fuel tank for free.

Mercedes-Benz will begin notifying owners on Oct. 1.
