Sept. 21, 2020—The Idaho National Laboratory, located in Idaho Falls, has been conducting research on electric vehicles since the early 1980s, and has recently partnered with technology consulting firm, Energetics, for its latest project.
The project, titled Electric Vehicle Widescale Analysis for Tomorrow's Transportation Solutions (EV WATTS), aims to collect data from EVs and plug-in hybrids around the country. The company plans to share its data January of next year.
According to Idaho Falls magazine, the research is done for the U.S. Department of Energy in order to understand how Americans are using electric vehicles and charging stations.
Currently, the project is looking for participants. Residents of Idaho communities can register at these links: Eastern Idaho residents, Blaine county residents, and Boise Area residents.
