All-Women Shop Shows Brake for Breasts Support

Oct. 6, 2020

An auto repair shop run entirely by women is hoping to be a driving force behind breast cancer awareness.

Oct. 6, 2020—An auto repair shop run by all women in Warwick, R.I., is getting behind the Brakes for Breasts cause, reports NBC 10 News.

According to the report, Jessica Pangelinan has been the service manager at J and H Automotive Service Center for 10 years and has contributed to the Brakes for Breasts cause since the beginning. It's something that's personal for her after losing her aunt to breast cancer.

Many shops around the nation take part in the cause as well. During October, more than 100 independent auto repair shops from across the United States are offering free brake pads to their customers. At J and H Automotive, all brake jobs performed from September through October will benefit the cause.

"So, it's a $20 gift card if you do each axle," Pangelinan said in the report. "So, $20 if you do front brakes, $20 if you do the rear, and then you have the option to donate to the research."

The shop is also collecting donations from customers directly through a cashless QR code.

Brakes for Breasts was founded by Ratchet+Wrench 2020 All-Star winners Leigh Anne Best and Laura Frank.
